Thistle Island Off Grid Case Studies

Thistle Island is off the coast of the Port Lincoln with 30 properties off grid and until recently all were running Diesel Generators.

SolarSpot has had the opportunity to install 2 Off Grid Systems on Thistle Island.  This means that the property owners have a self-sufficient Solar System with Solar Battery installed to ensure they will always have power.

Both systems have installed 16 X REC Solar Panels with a 25 year Warranty chosen because of their superior salt corrosion protection.  This provides up to 5.6 kW of Solar Power to charge the batteries and power the house during the day.  RedEarth Solar Inverters were chosen as they are assembled in Australia and all technical support is local.  The components are selected to suit Australian conditions.

The batteries used for these Solar Systems include Power Plus battery packs storing up to 5 kW hours of useable energy and are made in Victoria.
